Dear Families, Teachers, and Staff:

It is an honor to have been selected as your new Principal at Kentwood Elementary and the trust you have placed in me to lead a school with such a long history of excellence.  I have spent over 23 years as a teacher, coach, coordinator, and administrator in LAUSD serving our most important resource, children.  I have taught primarily 4th and 5th grade as a classroom teacher and have taught grades kindergarten through 5th grade as a Math and Literacy Coach.  As an administrator, I served at a Magnet school here in Westchester for the last three years. I received my master's in education and technology and am passionate about integrating technology into the curriculum. I also have a background in design and a great love of the visual and performing arts.  Whether coding, robotics, dance, theatre, or art, I am eager to bring all these skills and educational experiences to Kentwood and work with you as partners to ensure each child finds a love of learning and success.

Along with all of you, I will work hard to continue the legacy of success established by Kentwood by building solid relationships with families, students, teachers, staff, and community partners.  We will focus on a standards-driven curriculum, making data-informed decisions, and having high expectations for all students.  I am dedicated to learning who each of you is, how you learn and work best, and ensuring we have a safe environment to help everyone grow and thrive in a transparent and collaborative school community.

While I know you are starting school with me later in the school year, I am ready to hit the ground running.  We will have a fantastic school year together as we continue to provide rich academic experiences and build relationships together.  It is essential for me that everyone feels welcome and excited to be here.  My door is always open, and I welcome your input.  Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the school year.

I know I will learn so much from all of you and will become an even better leader.

All My Best,

Helene von Schreiber
